No aural bombardment, it’s so gentle and easy and light that it could almost give off the idea – on first listens – that there’s less here than there is. But while his previous work is bright and bouncy, this set is ambient and nocturnal. The album found Flying Lotus drawing on African percussion and psychedelic influences, as well as human-subconscious and dream world concepts.

For one, it’s much more accessible than its predecessor, though it contains glitches typical of a Flying Lotus recording, with booming bass drums supplanted by edgy synths.
