When inventive director Charlotte Simpson and her companion, Gavin, tackled the renovation of their first home, a Victorian terrace in southeast London, they started with the kitchen. With a manhole within the heart of the ground, a corrugated plastic roof, and waste plumbing straight via the center of the room, the kitchen was the apparent start line. Working with Darren Oldfield Architects, they built-in classic inspiration from lodge interiors, vintage potting sheds, and Victorian butcher outlets.
