Block-Printed Quilts and Desk Linens Salute the Ladies of the Bauhaus

Interwoven, LA textile workshop Studio Ford’s newest assortment, pays homage to the customarily ignored girls of the Bauhaus. Founder Josie Ford says she was impressed by their work, tenacity, and “radical push in the direction of modernism”—and by the motion’s refusal to, in Walter Gropius’s phrases, “elevate an boastful barrier between craftsman and artist.”

The brand new items reference Bauhaus geometrics in subdued shades of blue, yellow, and purple, and, like all of Studio Ford’s textiles, are designed in LA and hand block-printed by the atelier’s group of artisans in Jaipur, India.

Interwoven was unveiled at Tautes Heim, a Bauhaus-era home designed by architect Bruno Taut in a modernist growth in Berlin often known as the Horseshoe Property. Restored with interval furnishings and potent main colours, the home is on the UNESCO World Heritage record—and accessible for in a single day stays as a “rentable museum.” Come see the gathering and the setting.
