Tokyo architectural agency No. 555 celebrates on a regular basis life by constructing in a fascinating casualness. Their home designs are explorations of ease and practicality—all the time approached utilizing humble, business constructing supplies in ways in which name for double takes. Out again, there’s a two-story folly of types: a tower that gives storage, work area, and an extra place to play. Not coincidentally, the numbers 555 signify change and new beginnings of a decidedly optimistic kind.

Its entry and the inside passageways, principal architect Takaya Tsuchida explains, are abstracted variations of torii, the gates fronting Japanese temples and shrines that mark the transition from the mundane to the sacred. Utazu is full of historic monuments and Tsuchida says they took these gates—and visions of kids frolicking round them—as inspiration.
